Algorand is a decentralized network built in 2017 with intent to solve the blockchain trilemma. Trilemma suggests that your blockchain can’t be secure, scalable at decentralized at the same time. Meaning you can secure transactions but there can’t be many of them at the same time, or if you have lots of transactions happening simultaneously, they are not secure, or you can have fast and secure transactions but only if the network is controlled by a small number of participants.
