Taking a name from the phrase “a New Kind of Network,” NKN is using the blockchain to help people share their bandwidth without compromising security. Constant connectivity is one of the more necessary features for decentralized technologies. Crypto needs stable networks but oftentimes, those networks compromise on privacy for stability. IP addresses, for instance, can be used to find where you live. NKN doesn’t have IP addresses. Along with several other privacy oriented features, NKN is building a new kind of network that doesn’t rely on centralized servers to store information and compensates people for sharing their bandwidth. NKN even uses its own consensus protocol called “proof-of-relay” to make sure that network participants are transmitting information properly and quickly.
